Safety Specialist I or II
Responsibilities: Assists in efforts to insure safety by continually monitoring work environment and work habits of miner personnel. Assist in compliance with safety related federal/state laws, regulations, codes and rules. Participates in investigation of claims and accidents involving employees or contractors. Collaborates in the development and implementation of specific task training plans and best practices for all pieces of equipment on the mine site.
Safety Specialist I Minimum Requirements: High school diploma and a minimum of five years mining experience are required; or an Associate’s degree and two years of mining experience, coal mining experience is preferred. Certified Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) instructor or have the ability to become an MSHA instructor within two years. Must be able to obtain North Dakota Mine Foreman as well as MSHA occupational health monitoring and sampling certifications. Familiarity with Microsoft Office. Salary range $64,741-$80,926.
Safety Specialist II Minimum Requirements: Must meet educational and experience requirements for Safety Specialist I and have an additional three years working in a safety department. Must have Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Must be a Certified MSHA Instructor. Must possess North Dakota Mine Foreman certification as well as occupational health monitoring and sampling certifications. Medical Certificates (Advanced First Aid, EMR, EMT) are desired. Salary range $74,170-$92,712
