At BNI Coal, we understand that safety culture involves more than simply developing programs, performing audits, conducting weekly “toolbox” training meetings at jobsites, or offering safety incentive programs.
A culture is defined as consistent beliefs, values, and behaviors among all members of a population or business. It’s an attitude that flows through every level of the business and a set of values shared by all employees. We refer to these as Our Shared Values. Safety Culture simply put is a set of values. It has very little to do with programs and policies. It has a lot to do with personal accountability and integrity within each and every one of us that says I will accept nothing less than Zero Injury.
At BNI, we believe defining culture is up to each and every one of us.
